Talwar and a free scabbard
Hello,
On offer are two pieces from my collection. The first item is a talwar, total length ~88 cm, blade length ~75 cm. Hilt of plain iron/steel with moderate pitting, has a knuckle bow ending in a dragon-like head and retains a lanyard ring probably made from brass. The pommel disk is slightly canted and the hilt can be held comfortably in my medium sized hands. Hilt is glued in solid without any movement. The blade is laminated, polished and etched with a few scratches and scattered light pitting. It has a broad shallow fuller on each side and a ~20cm long false edge sharpened at the end. price 450€ + shipping. The second item is a scabbard without its sword which I got in a multi item auction lot a while ago, length 85 cm. It is made from leather over a wood core with an iron/steel shape, one crude carrying ring and the second carrying ring in bad condition, chiselled with nasta'liq inscription of the kind you can find on many persian or afghan sword scabbards. The whole piece to me looks to be cobbled together from different pieces, perhaps during its time of usage, perhaps after. I have never owned a sword which would fit it, but perhaps someone will be more lucky or will be able to use it for spare parts in a project. I do not ask any money for that one, just for the shipping cost to be covered, but if someone takes the scabbard together with the talwar I would drop the price for both to 400 € + shipping for saving me the hassle of packing and shipping two different items. |
