Warning Mysterious PM
Gentlemen ,
If you get this PM please be careful ! Sounds suspicious !! Please don't open the link . Safety first; right? Rick -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry for PMing out of the blue. Here's the thing. I wrote a book with a friend of mine. My husband keeps saying it sucks. I think he's just jealous tho. He spends a lot of time on these boards, so I told him I'm going to pick a random person here, and ask them, and we ended up betting on it. So go to and make the call. Does it suck? Thanks Last edited by Rick; 29th November 2007 at 03:50 AM. |

Silly me, i opened it too. I didn't have any time to read it though and probably won't. Still i would agree with Rick that in the future if you receive such PMs it is probably safer to leave them unopened if you don't know the sender.
Does the mystery husband wish to identify himself? |

the mysterious PM
David,
I received also this private message and reacted like you did but I deleted it, without opening it. Much safer. I do not think that this way of communicating is a proper way and I do consider that private message as a spam ! I wish it would not have passed EEW filters. Kind regards Michel |

I received it as well and opened it without thought. Last time that happens! If no one comes forward to claim being the husband, I'd suggest that this be treated as spam.

I has already been definitely IDed as spam, but i do not believe there will be any adverse effects for those that opened it.
Michel, apparently this particular piece of spam has been showing up on many forums and is engineered to work within the PM systems of a forum so there really wasn't much we could do to avoid it this time though i am sure that Lee is looking into ways to prevent it from happening again in the future. |

rick, david;
i'd deactivate that link by changing the colon to a semi-colon, to keep anyone from trying it by mistake. as in: http;//zenofeller.com/books/asylum/asylum_chapter1.html more recent vbulletin version vbcodes allow a tag pair (i'm a moderator on another forum myself - we've had a quiet period recently re spam, but have had 11 yesterday, including one new guy who posted the same junk in 9 subforums a day after he'd posted two & been disciplined - he is now noted as a miserable user there) - they haven't gotten to the pm's on our forum yet, thank god. |
