and I was once very disappointed as I found only one or two keris in Amsterdam.
Ethnographic musea do not pay much attention to weapons.
Probably something to do with our society being focused on multi culti issues, and they can better not be promoted with displaying weapons.

Other musea in The Netherlands with Keris on display are :
Nusantara in Delft (I believe they are now renovating the museum. might well be closed)
and "Het Legermuseum" also in Delft (www.legermuseum.nl , only a small number of keris, but a nice display of Atjeh items and of course all types of military Klewang on display. )

Further there is Bronbeek, near Arnhem, originally a home for the retired soldiers which houses a museum with items from our colonial past.
They also appear to have closed a part of the exhibition (the first floor)
Maybe other forumites know more about this ?

The Ethnographic museum of Leiden (not to far from Amsterdam) has an excellent collection but little on display.

they will have however have a great exhibition on Sumatra with many museum pieces from all over the world. I will open on the 14th of october.
I am looking forward to going there!

Bronbeek is being renovated so I would not go there although it is my favorite museum in the Netherlands! During the renovation only one floor is open and it is quite a trip from Amsterdam.

Bronbeek is also my favourite museum in the Netherlands by far, i find the atmosphere there very special, not only because of its collection or location but also because of the retired veterans who still live there. Had plans visiting next week ,but unfortunately the conversion/renovation will not be completed till spring 2010.

regards
