Default JERZ (MUSANDAM) AXES x 2

Two Jerz axes for sale. These are also known as Musandam Axes and come from Musandam Peninsula Region of Oman. Used mainly by the Shihuh tribesmen. These are extremely rare and do not come up for sale very often.

The axe head is really small measuring 7cm (just under 3"). Haft length of the thick handled axe is 30" and it has an iron ring at the bottom end. The haft is some sort of hardwood. Size would suggest a "toy" but believe me it is not. and is very capable of inflicting a nasty wound!
The plated axe has a thinner haft and is decorated with 3 silver bands. This one is probably more for "ceremonial" use.

For further information on these refer Elgood's book The Arms and Armour of Arabia Page 34
