Please Help Me to Identify this Helmet.
I was hoping that somebody could help me with identifying this helmet. I have been told that that it originates from 19th century China or Tibet. It might be correct but I think that Korea and some other Asian countries had similar helmet designs.
Tell you the truth I have my doubts about this helmet since I am aware of amount of fakes and reproductions produced in China. I am not a specialist in Asian arms and armour and I would appreciate any help and comments about it. |

New Helmet
Hi,
The Helm you have shown is a very new example made in China. They have been seen in great numbers on Ebay and I am pretty sure there have been some good discussions about this type and other better ages reproductions within these pages. Gavin |

Well noted by Gav, these are as suggested probably one form of numbers of stylized items with composite traditional elements being produced commercially in China. For me the first clue is the vajra atop the helmet. These are for symbolic ritual weapons or objects most associated with Tibet, but also found in degree elsewhere in Tantric context.
