Thirty Years War carbine
Hi Friends,
I just wanted to share my newest acquisition. It is a truly fantastic Dutch made rifled carbine made in the first decade of the Thirty Years War circa 1620's. The carbine is about 30.5" long and the carved stock and engraved barrel are reminiscent of Dutch artistry of the early 17th century. But even with the embellishments the carbine is truly reminiscent of an officer grade military weapon probably used throughout the war. I have been looking for an early Thirty Years carbine for some time and many period examples I found were later paddle butt carbines, so it was well worth the wait. Even better I was able to sell some of my own pieces and combine the proceeds with a trade to get a gun I could never otherwise afford. I would appreciate any of your knowledgeable thoughts and insights! Many Regards, P |
