MANY THANKS TO ARTZI FOR A GREAT EVENING!
This event was one of the best we've had so far. Excellent coverage of Southeast Asia topics, especially Mark Bowditch's continuing research on the history and typology of dhas. Mark, we are waiting for your book to come out! Could you please post an illustrated abstract of your talk in the "articles" section of Vikingsword?

Artzi's presentation on the "Lombard treasure" was also notable -- viewers were asked to think hard about whether the two specimens on display were real or fake, and give their opinions. Exciting -- not just a lecture, but something which the audience is invited to participate in since the "jury is still out" as to whether this collection is kosher or not.

Topping things off was an amazing demonstration of Sikh martial arts -- live, not video. This is the kind of thing I wish we'd see more of. It's one thing to expound on the history of weapons and display fine examples of same, but quite another to see how they were meant to be used.

Kudos to all those who put up table displays. Especially to newcomer Dean Vlahopoulos, who showed a mouthwatering assortment of shamshirs, puluoars, and Central Asian shashkoid (shashkesque?) sabers recently acquired in Afghanistan.

I´m green with envy!! You are very lucky men!! In Spain is very very difficult to find Fairs or Shows of this type, sometimes we can find fairs with custom knives but not fot ethnographic arms.
Please, if someone take pictures post them.

I would also like to thank Artzi and Avner for hosting this wonderful event. It truly isn't often when collectors can gather and receive such a wide assortment of information in one evening. And if you think about all the lectures we have had over the many years it continues to prove to be a tremendous source of information and hands on experience. Mark Bowditch did a fine presentation on dha where he has really put time and energy into the history of dha. Then a most interesting lecture on SE Asian Elephant fighting arts. Artzi made a neat presentation about the Lombard collection and has continued a near 75 year debate by actually having two examples from this collection at the show. How often do you get to look at 7th century material. Or was it.................?

The live Sikh martial art presentation was high flying and impressive. The side table presentations were great. Add to that a nice dinner and getting to meet new attendees like Nathaniel is always great. It was a fantastic evening that I for one immensely enjoyed.

All the talks were well organized and very informative.

Mark, I'd love a copy of your presentation.

WOW!!...and the Sikhs!...talk about getting the crowd pumped! I wanted to just get up and start clanging swords and shields with the folks at my table!!

Yes, thank you to everyone involved and attending...it was my first time and it was great meeting people face to face, hearing the very informative presentations, display tables and awesome demonstration. I didn't get any good photos of the demo...I saw others snapping photos...anyone get some good action shots?

Once again i have missed out on a fine event. It has been years since i have had an opportunity to attend and i am indeed envious. Thanks to Artzi and all those who make this event possible every year. I can only hope my schedule is free next year.

Yes I am soooooo glad I came this year. I want to thank Artzi and Avner for their hard work. I not only learned a lot more about dhas (thanks Mark) and battling with elephants, but I got to see Sikhs using some of the weapons we collect in somewhat of their cultural context and methods (in some ways reminiscent of siniwali in escrima work).

I am very thankful.
