I am surprised that no one answered your question Pusaka. It might be because (and if i am wrong perhaps someone else can point the way) i don't think there is much, if any, keris production going on in Bali these days. The large majority of what is on the market today as "Bali" keris are being made in Madura i believe.

There is an interesting older thread, with a discussion about Empu today (2005). In Bali, Klungkung, there is named an Empu Mangku Wije.

I met Empu Mangku Wije in about 1984. At that time he was already a very elderly man and had made something like half a dozen keris during his lifetime, his major production was small ceremonial axes.
About 6 or 7 years ago I met another empu who lived near Ubud, I've got a note of his name and record of the conversation, but I've forgotten his name; when I get a chance I'll check my records. I have heard of another pandai who lives near Sanur and who is in current production, but I have not met him. I have also heard of several pandai who carve keris, but who order the bakalan from outside Bali, possibly from Madura, but not necessarily so. |
