Default DAGGER FOR ID

Hello all.

I'm posting this for a friend. Does anyone reconize the style/origin of this dagger? Possible age ? Thanks for any help. Sorry for the poor pics.

Rick

Yes this is a Moro gunong from Mindanao Island. It might be from the Magindanao tribe, perhaps the 1920s.

The mounts might be silver but need to be cleaned.

The surface of the pommel looks interesting. Is the pommel bone or wood?

Hi Rick,

may I ask you how long this example is? I think that it is a souvenir gunong similar to the here shown example: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showpo...1&postcount=72
or the small examples from Ron here in down: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showpo...6&postcount=63 They can be seen in this thread: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ghlight=gunong
This would mean that it is much later as 1920.

Regards,
Detlef

Thank you ALL for your kind responses. I knew it would be helpful to ask the experts on this Forum. LOL. I'll ask about the handle material. Thanks again.

I'm also curious to see better images, and to know the length. By the look of the typed page which it is photographed against, it seem very small.
