Nice Sudanese Dagger For Comment
This just arrived today. There is an inscription at the base of the blade that needs a translation?

Hello Lew, a beautiful piece indeed!!! I love the scabbard (one of the most beautiful that I have seen!) and the patination on the handle is wonderful!! If I'm correct the date is 1316=1899/1900. Congratulations

Lew,
That is one of the most beautiful Sudanese arm daggers I have ever seen. The scabbard is really really super (it is silver isn't it?), the inscriptions on the ricasso are marvelous and I agree with Flavio that the patina on the grip is very nice. Ernst |

I had someone in my office translate it. The name is Muhammad Abduh Raboah? He could not be 100 percent sure? 1316AH=1898AD.

I may confirm to you the validity of the translation, that you got here below, the complete translation with some comments 2234 and little bit more far 9 (?) I leave to your sagacity the understanding of those digits, I put a (?) because it's uncertain MOHAMED ABD EL RAB'HO either a name containing one way to name "God" either RAB SANA either YEAR 1316 (Hegira) either ± 1898 (Gregorian) that's set, no more best regards à + Dom |
