Default What is this and where from?

I picked this up recently and I THINK it is some sort of incense holder. Made of brass with a hinged top. The body has rows of holes in the top half.
Any ideas as to origin, India? SE Asia?.

Not a powder horn IMHO. It has holes in it.

Interesting item, Stu! I like the look of it. Indian? Tibetan? With the holes purposely placed in it, I would suspect you are right that it probably held incense, spices or some such for fragrance. Gunpowder would spill, tobacco would dry out and liquids, well, you get the picture-

Yes I thought it an interesting item also. Not really my collecting field, but it just took my fancy. I also think it is likely Indian or Tibetan but I guess it could also be SE Asian. I was hoping that someone might have a better idea than me...............
