Default Help with knife identification please

What did I buy this week? Found at a gunshow. I think there must be something missing from the pommel.
Thanks for looking,
Marcus

Hello Marcus,

It is a ceremonial knife / wedung from Bali.

Here is a thread showing several examples.

http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ht=BALI+WEDUNG

It looks like somthing is indeed missing from the pommel.
Not sure what though.

Best regards,
Willem

Default Thanks

I went through the referenced thread and others referenced therein. The question of Java or Bali came up quite a bit and also the question of whether the examples from Bali are properly called Wedung or something else.

Hello Markus,

good catch. To answer your question: The knife is from Bali and called tiuk pengentas. There seems indeed something missing at the handle.

Regards,
Detlef

Default good catch

$140

Looking at other pieces, I guess it would have had a simple brass cylindrical finial.
