bronze bladed knife - need I.D. help
Hi all,
I've long lurked on these forums scooping up information and I have been meaning to post a thread on this knife for a long time, but somehow it always seems to have gotten shoved to the back of my schedule. Anyways, I'm wondering if any of you can give an more info as to where exactly this knife is from and what time period. I drew a blank using my book resources (which are admittedly slim). The information I had from the seller was pretty basic, knife was supposedly from the Philippines and probably from the Tagalog but seller was not sure. It's 10" overall and does have a leather sheath. The hilt appears to be horn (water buffalo?). My apologies for the poorly lighted pictures, I only had access to a 2 megapixel camera. overall view: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290001.jpg hilt: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290003.jpg closeup of blade: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290008.jpg butt: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290012.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...m/P1290013.jpg So any help would be appreciated. I've personally never seen a similar knife, but that's hardly surprising since Philippino weaponry isn't something I've devoted allot of study to. Sadly, for the same reasons I have a kukri on the swap forum, I'm going to be passing this knife along to a new home at some point in the near future but I wanted to finally satisfy my curiosity about it first (it's been sitting around un-I.D.ed for three months or so). |
