I just picked this up today is it a tulwar or shamshir?

Nice puppy, but it doesn't look verry old. Technically it is a tulwar rather than shamshir because of the ricasso (shamshirs, doesn't have one).

I would like to know why you think that this tulwar does not look old to you? I have compared this sword with other older tulwars in my collection and would say this tulwar is late 19th century.

Poor engravings and "gilt" look of the hilt. Maybe just not of my taste...
