Cirebon Keris with Ganesha hilt
In the thread on the unusual Maduranese "wing" Keris we also discussed Cirebon Keris with Ganesha hilts.
At that time I could only find one reference picture of a friend's Keris. But last month I managed to find one for myself. I am not sure about if the pamor description is correct? Had a look in Tammens and guessed that Brondong was the closest? In Ensiklopedi Keris I couldn't find this pamor to compare? Also do you think that the meditating kneeling man on the Sorsoran could be described as Tunggak Semi? More pictures at http://www.kampungnet.com.sg/modules...view_album.php Michael |

I believe Tunggak Semi is somewhat intrinsically subjective. |

Thanks David,
I agree it is very subjective and I also notice that it's not as clear on my pictures as IRL. The reason I was unsure on the Tunggak Semi is that it is so much larger on this Keris than the examples of this pamor in the books. Here is a close up of the motif. Michael Quote:

that's not a Ganesha
Hi Michael,
that last photo shows a very nice kneeling man I think. I thought I would show a nice ebony Balinese Ganesha hilt (even if a little off topic) cheers David |

Yes, your's a nice Balinese Ganesha hilt form. But I do believe that Michael's is a Ganesha form as well, which has been veiled with floral and vegetative foliage. An example of the hilt form can be found in: Ref: M Kerner's - Keris-Griffe Aus Museen Und Privatsammlungen, Pg: 70, Fig: G89. Batara Ganesha hilt form.
