Dayak hair shield Moro shield

This shield just rolled of from our "production line".

I love making miniature shields and encouraged by some tribal art dealers who bought some other examples here are the "newest" models.
They don't need much space in stead of the real ones!

The shields are on hold already but with enough response I'm thinking to make these in a limited edition.Some collectors once asked in the past if there was coming any Dayak shields so here is one of them.

The hours invested in them are enourmous,but I love to do it.

For each model I make a serious study to the original motifs, used materials to make them as close I can get to their original big brothers.

The hair is real human hair got from a friendly hairdresser and put them on the shield cost some hours.The colors are all on a natural base like the original paints. Of course each model has a real carved handle on the back and will come including display.

The dayakshield is 24 cm high and the Moro shield is 11 cm.

the scale is about 1/6

Its my intension to make also examples from Nias,Moluccas,New Guinea,Mentawai etc. in the future.
