A Straight Jambiya (childs?) Opinions Please!
Hello all,
I acquired this Jambiya off ebay, it was heavily rusty and I cleaned it the best I can. Cant find any good oil to use so ended up using mineral oil.. it makes little chips inside the scabbard stick on the blade so after the photo's I cleaned it off. I'll try to get better pictures if needed. |

Nice find there. I saw that one on eBay but did not want to take the chance due to rust on the blade. It seems you cleaned it up nice. I would say the age is around 1960?
Congrats Lew |

Hello Lew,
Yep I gambled abit with this one and it turned out to be a nice piece. The blade is surprisingly of great quality. Not sure about the date, I think the blade could be older but am not sure. |

Hi Lofty,
Nice straight bladed, aluminium hilted Yemen Jambiya. Here is the curved version for comparison. I had Steve have a look at mine and in his opinion it is earlier than Lew suggests....maybe late 1930s to 1940s. You should be able to improve on the blade by soaking it in pineapple juice.
