Default Need Translation: Moro Barong Scabbard

I believe this is in Arabic.
Its on an old Barong Scabbard. There is more writing on the scabbard, but it is too light to take a pic of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Default Attempt

Hi,

The top inscription looks like Bismillahi Rahman, in the name of God the compassionate, though I think it is imcomplete.
The bottom one is a bit tricky. The starting part looks like wa lailan (and night...?) but the rest of it is undeciperable to me.
From the looks of it, the person who scratched it might either have very basic knowledge of Arabic gleaned from Quran reading lessons or is just copying out the inscription for talismanic reasons.
It looks like an approximation of the words rather than something written by someone highly literate, or the hand would be at least more rounded or cursive. Hope that helps.

raja muda,
thank you so much for the help. i wish i could get a better picture of the script. the only way to do that, would be to go over what is written with a pen. i dont want mess with the original look though.
like i said before, there is more writing, but really hard to see.
thanks again,

Nice shandigan, how pronounced is the raised edge in person? Does it feel very lively in the hand?

the shandigan is fairly pronounced. not as pronounced as my WWII 'guerilla' shandigan barong, but that one is a monster. i'll post pics of them side by side.

does it feel lively????
in the words of dr. frankenstein, "it is alive"!!!!
when you pull it out of the sheath, it has a mind of its own. very balanced and wants guide you, not the other way around. direction changes are felt in the belly, not the tip.

FEDERICO,
heres the pics.
the 3rd one down is my WWII Guerilla Shandigan.
the one below it is the Barong in this thread.
the one at the very bottom is also a shandigan, but not as pronounced, it also has a chinese chopmark.

"Yeehaa!" was pretty much my reaction when we applied the etchant. Actually, my reaction was more like "HOLY S@#% !!!!!" I've never seen a pattern pop out so quickly! The look on Shelley's face was priceless!
