Default Ebay win. Thoughts?

Hey all,
I won this on ebay;

Looks a little like a Chinese style. THe Viilage Blacksmith stamp is kinda weird. I thought it looked like the blade couldb be laminated. In hand I'm still not sure! I'll have to polish and etch. But I'm curious what you all think. It is crudely made, at least the welds. It seems to be distally tapered. So it's kinda puzzleing.

Here is a little info on Village Blacksmith. They were knife and tool makers who made a wide range of farm and butchering tools. I mostly see their markings on old cleavers and splitters. This looks more like what is left of an old farm tool that has been converted into a knife.

Thanks! That's cool. I never thought to do a search on that. If it is this Co. it has some age to it. That would certainly account for the fact that the blade looks well made while the hande attachment is crude. I do not say crude in a bad way, the welds are full of pin holes, but it is tight and solid. It would be very effective. The balance is good, and it fits my hand well. The D guard is strong and could withstand some abuse. Thanks again.
