Default Kris style

Awhile back I purchased a kris very similar to the one shown below. I haven't handled it yet as it was shipped to family until I can pick it up. Presumably Sulu with the horse hoof pommel. In both of these examples the pommel is nicely carved, distinctive handle wrap, very wide waved blade, fake ganja line, and course linear/spikey "greneng" filework. I can't tell if the steel is laminated. The bottom two photos are from a recent auction, the top two are the sellers photos of the sword I bought. I have also seen very similar file work on a straight blade Sulu kris. I would be very interested to hear comments on these.

I would generally agree Jeff, but it would be more helpful to see the actual pictures when you see it.

Wink

Hello Jeff,

I believe there is a good chance that your kris has a separate gangya/katik!

Regards,
Kai

That would be a thrill. It will probably be October before I can get back to the States and take a good look. If it is, I would be tempted to send it to Jose for rock star spa treatment and scabbard restoration.
