Default Ottoman Tufek - barrel with pattern

I've aquired an interesting tufenk recently.

Quite big. 160 cm overall, with a quality made, 125 cm long, octagonal barrel.

Nice but plain miquelet lock.

Nothing special about the mountings either. Plain wood with little decoration here and there and some ivory.

There is a dark pattern barely visible on the entire surface of the barrel. Never saw nothing like it.

Should I clean or light etch the barrel?

I think it is balcan in origin. What do you think?
