looks like a nice Khyber knife been wanting one of these for years now....

from the same estate sale:

GURKHAS SWORD ARCHED VERY EFFECTIVE



with a little luck ,maybe it'll be wootz, if not, looks to be a nice old tulwar in good shape with a new scabbard. i've got some strong vinegar &/or some FeCl3 to see if there is any pattern.

will post more pics if there are any markings, etc. when they arrive.

Don't you love it when you stumble across a listing where the seller hasn't got a clue what it is they have, but you do? I picked up a 400 year old wakisashi in shirasaya mounts that was also listed as a machete, though I didn't get off quite as cheaply as you did....
