Default A wootz katar

My only other acquisition from the show in Timonium. A polish and etch turned up a wootz pattern. No fancy decoration, just a nice solid piece.

Steve, with these recent wootz finds you may be steering your collection in a new direction! Wootz can get addictive!

I have to admit that Lew spotted this one. It wasn't etched, of course. He saw something in it that I couldn't see.

Hi Steve,
Beautiful piece there of the classic katar, and Rick is right, a pattern that nice in a blade can be very addicting! Not surprised at the note on Lew noticing this, pre etch....... he has a distinct sense in discerning good pieces!!

Looks like you did well at Timonium, congratulations. It was good to finally meet you there in person as well.

All the best,
Jim

Lovely katar!

Out of curiosity... was wootz generally applied to any blades in particular or just any that the owner-to-be wanted and could afford?

Seems that my eye paid off once more here is one that I picked up recently Seems similar to yours? The blade is about 90 percent full a good old warrior with an Indian wootz pattern.
