Jimpul
There is a lot off misunderstanding what is a Jimpul and what not .
If we use The Shelford provisional classification of the swords of the Sarawak Tribes presented 12th Novenber 1901 we see that Mr Albert Zonneveld made a big mistake at page 57 of his book. The mandau 165 is not a Jimpul I asked him why he put this one between the Jimpuls and his answer was that he couldn't find a classification for the Mandau. So the information given is incorrect and used by many people as a Jimpul wich is incorrect. If someone wanna have information about weapons of Borneo just ask and I try to answer the questions. I am specialised in the weapons off the Iban use . |

Thanks for the offer.
Can you just summarize your info in a short article and post it here? After that, we shall have a much better idea of our ignorance and shall be able to ask you some pointed clarifying questions. |

Thank you for your generous offer. Would you be willing to share what information you may have about kris/keris in Iban culture?

Hi Federico in the Iban culture was no place for an Kris the Kris was brought
in by the malay people who use the Iban to break up the country for them the typical kris handle from borneo comes from Bandlermasin Head hunters do not use a kris to get a head off |

The Iban are the Seadajaks there is no Dayak group that use kris as a weapon
it is more that the other people bring the Kris to Borneo like the malay people did in the early 15 cht Bruinei was in 1521 a large and wealthy town The Malay people must have mixed largely with the Kadayans ,melanuas and other coastal people Before Radja Brooke make his entrance in Borneo the malay s use the Iban |
