the different view Alan has explained already but the minimum what I would do with this sword is try to remove the green paint at the hilt carefully. And a try to fix the movement from the wooden part is worth the effort IMVHO.

Hi Detlef; no I don't know where this picture was taken.
I thought that possibly the location could be suggested by the arms the men are carrying. We see a Piso Podang there and what looks like a Sumatra pedang; those spears; could they suggest a locale?

Those gentlemen seem to be Batak.

The spears appear to be not very distinct but the guy carrying them seems to have a lopah petawaran in his belt.

yes, I've noticed the piso podang and the possible lopah petawaran but the right guy seems to wear a badik in his belt!?! And the pedang don't fit really as well. So my question to Rick.
