Hi Rajesh,
Interesting barrel. The pistol seems to have been used and reused. They transformed the flintlock into a percussion. You will have a lot of work to restore the stock, I can see a big crack and a modern screw... As you said nice woodcarving, as you may know, they (the people from the Balkans) copied the Italian wooden stock. Best, Kubur |

Hi Bandook.
That is a really interesting pistol you found. Converted to percussion back in the period. You don't see many of these conversions. Good find!! And your's shows the typical long, hard use many of these pistols endured. The cost and thus limited availability of percussion caps in the Region is likely why we find so few of these guns converted. Cerjack: That's a nice example you originally posted. Actually, I like the looks of the all iron mountede pistols like your's even more than the brass mounted ones. Also, great looking pistols all. I came in to this Thread a bit late. Just by coincidence, I was going to Post two of these pistols this weekend. So I shall do so on a seperate Post since it is picture heavy. Also close up pics of the two variations of the "false" ramrods discussed above. Rick. |

i imagine the inlaid depiction of the prophet's sword zul fiqar on the stock might help pin it down as a 'zulfiqar' pistol
