Fine Early Renaissance Swords and Halberds from the Ottheinrich Bible, 1530-2
Pfalzgraf (count palatine) Ottheinrich of Bavaria (1502-1559) and Elector (1556-9) was one of the most remarkable Early Renaissance noble men and a friend of Henry VIII, whose stature and physique he soon adopted. In 1530-2 he had an older Gothic Bible illuminated in the Renaissance taste for his personal use. Today it is known as one of the most abundant and prolifically adorned books of its period and is preserved at the Bavarian State Library Munich, Cgm 8010.
