Regarding the pictures, are you shooting in macro mode? The button/setting for it is usually marked with a flower-like symbol on cameras.

I WOULD SAY IT WAS MADE IN THE PERIOD OF WW2 AND AFTER, AS A SOUVINER. THE INLAY APPEARS TO BE M.O.P. (SHORT FOR MOTHER OF PEARL) PEARL OYSTER SHELL. IT IS A WELL MADE EXAMPLE FOR THE TYPE EVEN THOUGH IT IS PROBABLY IN THE CATAGORY OF A WAR BRING BACK SOUVINER.

WAR OFTEN BRINGS A LARGE SUPPLY OF FREE METALS AND MATERIALS TO AN AREA THAT IS NOT USED TO HAVING THE RESOURCE EASILY AVAILABLE. THIS CAUSES A BIG BOOM IN SUCH THINGS AS KNIFE AND SWORD MAKING AND IF THERE IS A READY MARKET OF FORIGN TROOPS FOR THESE ITEMS THE LOCAL SMITHS GET IN HIGH GEAR AND MAKE HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES.

MANY OF THE BLADES MADE DURING THIS PERIOD WERE NOT FOLDED AS LARGE SOLID BARS OF METAL WERE READILY AVAILABLE. BUT IT WOULDN'T HURT TO GIVE THE BLADE AN ETCH IF YOU WANT AS THE BLADE COULD BE OLDER THAN THE MOUNTS. GOOD LUCK

Thank you for your comments. Can you tell me something about these 2 other swords. They are quite smaller than the talibon, and their handles do not have the same curvature as the first one. One sword is quite corroded in the blade and the handle is worn and partially split. the other sword's blade is darkened, but the handle and sheath look somewhat ornately designed. are they small talibons, also presentation pieces, or quite older? Thanks

Both are talibon.

Those two are not tourist stuff. The first one is a rather nice one. The second one has seen better days.

Just ment it the other way. The first one had seen better days. It is quite rusty and the hilt has some nasty cracks.

The second one looks better. But I'm not an expert on this field.
