The axes are called bulova, the katars are from south India, and the "thing" - ceremonial use?

The katars are 18th century examples and are from Southern India.

Default Strange "thing"

Could it be a pricker for clearing touch holes in cannon? You don't say how big it is.
Otherwise some nasty medical instrument??

MY FIRST GUESS WAS A TEATHER TO BE STUCK IN THE GROUND FOR SECURING SMALL ANIMALS I ELIMINATED THAT AS IT WOULD NOT BE EASY TO HAMMER IT INTO THE GROUND WITHOUT LEAVING MARKS.
MY SECOND GUESS WAS A FINAL TO BE PLACED ON TOP OF A CEREMONIAL POLE BUT I NOTICED IN ONE OF THE PICTURES IT HAS A BARB ON THE SHARP TIP WHICH WOULD NOT HELP TO DRIVE IT INTO A POLE.
THIRD GUESS SOME SORT OF TOOL AND PERHAPS OTHER TOOLS OR KEYS COULD HAVE BEEN ATTACHED TO IT AT SOME TIME IN THE PAST.

SO I GUESS THAT CLASSIFYS IT AS EITHER A THIMAJIG OR A WHATYOUMAYCALLIT.

Default The "Thing"

HI all,

The lenght of the peculiar thing is about 10 inches.

It has a small barb at the tip and has screw like grooves all over the lenght of the staff.

has wierd looking curled up tentacles in a rather peculiar form on the top.

could it be something which was used as a punishing equipment ??????????? or a part of any equipment ???

Looks like it can be inserted and "screwed in".

I'll like to hope that it is something to clean small cannon firing holes...

Regards,
Bhushan
