Welcome to the forum. My advice is that: Before start to collect real or antique edged weapons, read as much as you can about them. Read this forum, the older forum (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=6), other stuff in Internet and books. The more knowledge you get the less money you will pay (or the oposite if you love the rare ones). Ask questions. People here love to talk about a piece.

Swordplay with antique swords? I dont want to think about it!

Swordplay with new swords is OK. Actually it is the fencing sport. Or martial art. In any city there are sport clubs for them.
