I take it that one is a Roedoïh & the other a Tjot Jang.
To my untrained eyes they look the same. Can you please point out the differences.
I like the octagonal suasa ferrule.
Thanks for sharing

The difference is the shape of the blade.
The one with silver ferrule is a Roedoïh, and the one with suasa ferrule is a Tjot Jang (cojang).

Both sides of the Roedoïh (rudus) are partly hollow grounded, which is resulting that there are clearly ribs visible along the spine and cutting edge. Along the spine, there is always a shallow groove.

The Tjot jang (Cojang) has no grooves and no 'swollen' ribs along the sides of the blade.

(Partially translated from the text written by P. Vermeiren, about the Christoffel collection)

Hi Maurice,

Two very nice swords, congrats! How long are they?

For comparison my rudus with brass ferrule, 81,5 cm long.

Regards,
Detlef

Hi Detlef,

The one with silver ferrule is 79 cm long, and the one with the suassa ferrule is 73,5cm.

I do have another rudus with the same length of 82 cm as yours. But that one is rather simple. No metal ferrule like these examples.

The one with brass collar you have is a very nice one! I hope to add one in my collection once.

Thanks Maurice! Sadly I've sold my co jangs so I am looking for a nice one and for a rudus with a cangge gliwang handle.

Regards,
Detlef
