Default All steel khanjar

Dear members,

I just received this persian khanjar,
A large example of better quality than the ones I saw already. 19th century ??

Length is 50cm / 19,7 inches

The blade can be wootz.

Yes, Persian 19th century almost certainly wootz. It could benefit from revealing the wootz structure.

It could also be Mughal (the Moghuls were Persians).

I'm impressed with the scabbard and hilt too,
the iron/steel seems hand
carved /embossed and not cast or ' pressed''
+ nice gold koftgari on it

To me, that doesn't look like koftgari but more like true damascening.

Be very careful when polishing the blade for etching! Avoid polishing the carved areas. Do polish to 2000-3000 grit and do not try to remove any pitting as it does not impact the end result too much.
