Madura motifs
I was visiting a friend recently and we were going through a number if hulu and keris he'd purchased from me over the years.
It was good to see these items again, and together always adds context sometimes not seen or fully appreciated individually. What stuck with me after returning home, was the old Madura hulu. Some had the Pegasus, another the Griffin like creature within the carvings. I may be looking in the wrong places for the insights I hoped to gain as traditional searches turned up little to nothing on the subject. For those more learned on the subject, where can information on these two icons be found? With thanks Gavin |

Hi Gavin,
I can be wrong, but I believe the Pegasus like is referring to Kuda Sembrani (symbol of Sumenep), whereas the Griffin like is referring to Buraq (believe to be the ride of Prophet Muhammad). |

I don't want to pile on, but I had no warnings either from my rig about this site. (insert shrug here)

My antivirus software (Bitdefender) warns me that Vikingsword is not a secure site and I have to ignore it for logging in

I seem to remember Lee explaining the reason for retaining the present designation; IIRC it had something to do with switching the address from http to https.
I'm sure he can enlighten us does he see this. |

My site still shows available with both protocols... why I don't know exactly, I would have expected HTTPS to be the default, but I think having the HTTPS sorted in the background now negates the security warning issue regardless of how it is approached... Anyway, thanks for the link David, appreciated. There might be a safe space I can open it, I'll ask my IT guy, as it was he who encouraged me to go HTTPS to indicate it is a legit and safe site, to gain a larger audience trust. |
