Dear all,
i friend of mine got an offer for a nice wootz shamshir with a cartouche.
As the photos are from the seller, i just cut off the cartouche.
Someone can help me with the traduction ?

Please post a picture of the entire sword (see requirements for ID posted at the top of the Ethnographic Forum page).

To me it looks like an Ottoman " kilic adjemi ( Literally " foreign [ persian style] sword"). From the pic the blade looks like having a wide shallow fuller ( I might be imagining it). If so, the blade might be European. I understand that your friend does not have it yet. Etching it might help.
I would suggest waiting for Kwiatek's reading of the cartouches.

The blade is from wootz, i got another picture.
I tryed to identify the cartouche and someone suggest me : "I put my trust in God".
But always better to double check !

The reading is correct, tawakkaltu 'ala allah ('I put my trust in God')

The other inscription reads 'Work of Asadullah', clearly meant to be Asadullah of Isfahan.

The style of both inscriptions though is Ottoman
