Default Lionhead made from copper or brass

Dear all,

does anyone have an idea of this piece? Diameter is 11.5cm. Material could be copper or brass.
Any help on its age and origin would be really appreciated.

Similar to castings of 15th C. south German door knockers. Not my field though.

I would say brass or bronze according to the patina I see.

My first though was a door knocker. Pictured is the one on my door made in England.
