Default Mare Rosu is dead

I have just been informed that Mare Rosu died on 20th of July after a long time with illness.
I dont know how many still remember him, but he was a good friend and always in a good spirit. He will no doubt be remembered for different posts, but surely for his thread about 'magnetic iron'.

Sorry to hear that! I suspect it was because of his illness he didn't post lately.
Rest in peace fellow collector!

Although I never met him, he was for many years a close friend, and we had many mails between the two of us.
During his illness we did not correspond, as he was in hospital/rehab - but I do miss him as he was a great friend - a real Southern gentleman.

Jens, can i assume you are actually referring to YOUR thread about magnetic iron. Mare Rosu's contributions there were certainly a highpoint for that thread. This thread is epic.

I cannot express the sadness in the passing of this true Southern gentleman, whom along with Jens I have known for many years in communications. While his entries were not prolific, his contributions and very words were profound, and very much part of the fiber of us all.
Rest in peace musketeer, my dear friend.

Very sad to hear of the loss of another esteemed colleague on these pages. Knowledge and wisdom in our areas of collecting are hide to find, and Mare Rosu had an abundance of both. His contributions will be missed.

Ian.

Sorry David, yes that is the thread.
At one point he bought all the compasses in a shop, to prove how they reacted to the blade.
I will miss him very much.

Yet another colleague is gone....
May he rest in peace.

Having spent many years on this Forum, I have seen quite a lot of similar posts. Sad to read them and realize that the advance to the "first row" is inevitable.

I didn't know the man but I always feel a sudden hollow in the gut when I hear of people who sound like they had a wealth of knowledge on things that far too few concern themselves with pass away. It's tantamount to the mere thought of a book burning for me.
