Large Balkan Kama for ID
Here is an unusual large Balkan kama for your comments. The whole weapon is 62 cm (24 inches) long and weighs a hefty 700 grams (1.5 lbs). It looks like it was made from a cut down sword blade. The guard is also very unusual and could have been taken from another weapon as well, and the same goes for the hanger. The year is totally puzzling, as it is in Arabic numerals, but cannot be Hijri, as it is too high. I guess it could be 1941, but this appears a little older than that.
What are your thoughts? Thank you, Teodor |

My guess it is a composite sword more like trench work. Not something specifically ethnographic. But it is more like a guess than an educated answer.

This is a very nice and composite short sword!
It's very interesting because it's a puzzle of different parts. Is it possible to have another photo of the pommeau just to check if it's a yatagan hilt mounted on a kinjal? The scabbard is fun too and very North African... For the date i would say 1921... But it's just a date.. it doesnt mean anything than the last use of this sword... To me someone has reused Balkan or Turkish ottoman parts to make a cutlass, to use on ships, the guard and the scabbard could be North African, Algerian or Tunisian, maybe used on pirate ships in the area... Here are pictures of a Bedouin shashka, also found in Bulgaria like the kama, for guard comparison.
