Default Strange Punal on Ebay (finished)

I love the blade on this one, but the hilt? Is this a rehilt, or something I've never encounterd before? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, my guess would be yes, a rehilt. The wood doesn't seem to have nearly the patina of the rest of the piece and it is certainly way out of proportion on the aesthetic level. The rest looks nice, late 19th-early 20thC.
