maduran hilted keris with uncertain type of blade
i bought this one because i like the hilt. but im completely ignorant about the type or merit of the blade? can anyone let me know what type/dhapur this is? the 'belalai gajah was broken and i get the local silversmith to add a silver one... much bigger than the original and somewhat an inappropriate shape to purists, but i can live with it.
Probably the scabbard was not original to the blade but it fits reasonably well. Last edited by Green; 22nd June 2016 at 08:19 AM. |

Hello Green,
My opinion is as follows: old and decent Javanese blade with some flaws, gayaman style scabbard from Solo, nice ivory janggelan hilt from East Java/ Madura but poor quality and inadequate selut. From the pics the type/ dhapur of the 11 luk blade does not seem to be a Javanese standard. Regards Last edited by Jean; 22nd June 2016 at 06:44 PM. |
