Hi bandook:

It's a type of jambiya from Northern India. Often referred to as a "tiger tooth" jambiya. Here is a similar example on the Oriental Arms web site:

Could never figure out what the "tiger tooth" refers to: incisor ( blade) or molar ( pommel) of the tiger?:-)

I think it's named by the blade shape.

time to be pedantic:

i think you mean canine or cuspid, not incisor - which are the comparatively much smaller chisel-like teeth in between the canines. see siberian tiger skull below. pre-molars are also known as carnasals, used to slice meat.

p.s.- nice dagger. scabbard needs some tlc

the three-lobed pommel is fairly ubiquitous on these.
