Aceh shield
Hello forummembers,
I just purchased this shield for a very good price. According to Zonneveld it's a brass shield from Aceh (forgot the name, I will come back on this). After cleaning it, it looks pretty good and it is a very good addition to my slowly growing collection. Does anybody has info on the age of this shield? Also, does anybody know how the bindings on the back should look like. The bindings are gone and I want to try an make my own. Thanks. BCB |

One method. See attached. This small round hand shield (or Buckler) made of brass is also locally known as Peurise Teumaga (Perisai Tembaga in Malay). Translation, literally means "Brass Shield".

new?
Alam Shah,
Thanks for the photo. I will make it in the same manner (or at least try). I don't know if this is a newe one. There is a small crack on the side of this shield. I like to think it's battle damage but maybe it's because it fell of the wall by the previous owner. BCB |
