Sword stick with a 18th cent. Portuguese blade
The stick appears to be a joiner's work, in fine woods, built with with wooden pegs ... not steel nails.
The blade is still in the original size, with its little forte; an excelent and rare mid 18th century specimen, deeply engraved in both faces VIVA EL REY DE PORTUGAL, with smith "anchor" marks. With a deep fuller in the first third, diamond cross section, ending with an estoc profile. Blade length 76 cms (30"). Width 15 mm. Thickness 8 mm. Obviously a remount from a small sword from the period of King Dom José. Selling for 350 Euros or 440 US Dolars, shipping included. Fernando . Last edited by fernando; 21st November 2008 at 12:32 AM.
