Default NICE JEZAIL for COMMENT

Recently arrived is this very nice original percussion Jezail. Probably made for a boy judging by the dimensions. Overall length is 43" with the barrel of 28 1/2". The bore is approx 16mm smooth. Weight is approx 2Kg
The length of the original leather sling also suggests made for a boy.
The barrel is fitted with 5 brass bands, one of which is plain and is probably a very early replacement, as the patina is consistent with the others. The stock is beautifully and profusely inlaid with mother of pearl. The brass trigger guard is nicely decorated also.
A very pretty piece IMHO.

Hi Stu.
Well, it looks like the Flask found a gun to mate with.
That is a nice looking Jazail. Great overall patina. And made as a percussion, not a conversion. In my opinion, just the right amount of pearl inlay. It really shows well against that paticular stock color. I especially like the barrel bands and trigger guard. And note the method of attachment for the front part of the sling with the forged iron supports. That's the most common method I've seen on Jazails. No dought on this gun's origin. Probably made sometime during the last half of the 19th Century.
Again, nice gun. Really displays well.
Rick.
