Eric,

I think it is a nice keris.

I've never seen such a repair so I think it is rare.

If the metal is "holy" like you say, it could be an addition to the keris.

I think the blade can be washed without a problem. Warangan doesn't harm metal. Iron becomes black. It depends what kind of metal is used for the repair. A wash with warangan will give the blade a better look. I'm sure it was washed after the "repair".
