2009 EAAF T-shirts
Above is a reduced size version of the artwork for the proposed 2009 EAAF t-shirt; a few minor tweaks to the art are still anticipated. Rather than to guess at demand and maintain an inventory, these t-shirts will be sold on a subscription basis, that is, orders will be collected and prepaid, a printing arranged (there is a two dozen overall minimum) and the t-shirts shipped. The intent is for this to be a 'break-even' project with the cost held down as much as possible. Subscription Period: Orders will be accepted through the month of July, 2009 and will close at the end of the month. No promises either way about future reprintings. If you decide you wish to buy a shirt, please express that interest by voting in the poll on this thread, so that a demand estimate may be made. Options and Prices: Two versions of the shirt will be offered; both will be light blue shirts with dark blue printing. The first is a plain t-shirt printed only on the front (like the previous shirts). The second is a t-shirt with a front pocket having the main design printed on the back and a with a small rendering of the crossed krisses on the front pocket. For reference, the maximum anticipated costs of the shirts up through size XL, excluding shipping, will be: $11 for the version printed only on the front and $13 for the pocketed version with the main design on the back (XXL is also available, but costs $2 more) Please do not pay until the poll closes and the actual price is announced - if demand is good, the proportional share per shirt of the fixed costs will decrease and this savings will be passed along to you. When the time comes to pay at the end of July, you will have an option of making one PayPal payment and getting a refund of any overage once the shirts ship or making a first payment for the shirts in late July and a second payment for exact shipping (& PayPal fees) once they are printed and packed. Shipping for a single shirt by priority is $4.95 within the U.S. and $12.95 to most relevant international destinations; slightly cheaper alternatives may be available, but provide little savings. For more than one shirt, rates get complicated with regular airmail (first class international) becoming the economical international alternative. Last edited by Lee; 29th August 2009 at 12:43 PM. HI Lee,
Is the pocketed version just a T shirt or is it with a collar as per a Polo shirt? Regards Stuart |

I believe it is the Gildan Ultra Cotton 2300 Adult Pocket Tee; a regular t-shirt with a pocket and no collar.
If you really want a polo style shirt, I can ask the printer what the pricing would be presuming he can get these in a small quantity through his distributor. |

It looks like we have gotten over the minimum order hurdle
Well, it looks like we have gotten over the minimum order hurdle in order to go through with this. We will let the preliminary poll run its course, by which time I should have a firmer estimate back from the printer on some of the fixed costs, so hopefully there will be a price drop, especially if more people choose to order.

Finally putting some REAL swords on one of our T-shirts!
Any chance that we will run some of these off in a black T (no pocket, design on front) with the design in white? That would be my preference. I might actually get 2 of them then. |

I WILL TAKE A LARGE OR XL WITH POCKET AND MAIN DESIGN ON BACK.
PERHAPS SOME MORE OF THE MEMBERS WITH ARTISTIC TALENTS COULD SUBMIT SOME OF THEIR DESIGNS FOR FUTURE SHIRTS OR JUST FOR FUN. |

I will check on polos and the possibility of alternate colors when the poll closes and I am getting the printer's estimate on artwork touch up costs (these should be minimal and if they are as they were the last time, I'll be able to knock a couple of dollars off per shirt). I suspect there would be an ink change charge if we request such variants; also I do not know if that would trigger a separate minimum. But I will find out, and get costs when I do, before the time comes to send money. The artwork will also be available for download, when it is completed, for anyone who wishes to arrange their own local printing by one of the transfer techniques.

While I appreciate the idea of a shirt and really would like to get one, I don't like the artwork presented here. I think it looks quite unprofessional.
Sorry, I don't want to affront anyone, I just think you should probably offer several artworks among which the users can democratically choose the one they prefer... Peter |

Artists! Please step forward now!
Fernando - there was no t-shirt for last year, the previous t-shirts were from 1999 and 2000. Only a few XL green shirts remain in inventory.
Stekemest - fortunately for you, no one here is making you buy a subscription and then 'giving' you a t-shirt you hate as a premium. No money has been collected and none of this has gone off to the printer yet; this has been and is a cooperative, non-profit effort. If a member or group of members in our community with professional or even just better artistic skills want to design and organize alternative t-shirts or have a hand at redesigning this one, then please step forward now and I will gladly put the current project on hold. I would not even care if someone were able to make a profit at it. |

A Possible Alternative to give everyone what they want
I was visiting a friend's website and noticed that he offered t-shirts via a company named Zazzle. I have been looking over their technical requirements and I wonder if this might be the solution for our needs. They print on demand and they offer a number of garment choices and colors. Obviously, this is also a possibility for bringing back the first two styles as well. And, it would get me out of handling your money and fretting about order fulfillment. Yes, I'd set my "take" per shirt to zero.
And Fernando, I believe they offer color and I just happen to have that takouba logo art in high resolution... |

PERHAPS SOMEONE WITH LOTS OF KATARS AND A SHIELD COULD LAY OUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND TAKE A PICTURE OF IT TO SUBMIT. WE CAN'T USE THIS PICTURE FOR THE PURPOSE WE HAVE IN MIND BUT WE CAN FIND INSPIRATION IN IT. I DON'T COLLECT INDIA WEAPONS MUCH BUT CAN APPRECIATE A BEAUTIFUL ARRANGEMENT.
THIS SORT OF THING COULD BE DONE WITH MORO WEAPONS, CLUBS OR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING AND WOULD MAKE A BEAUTIFUL DESIGN. THE OLD SHIRTS HAD SORT OF A WAGON WHEEL ARRANGEMENT TO THE PIECES AND LOOKED GOOD. WE COULD MAKE IT SORT OF A CONTEST AND THEN VOTE ON THE ENTRY WE LIKE BEST OR PERHAPS THE FAVORITE TWO AS IT COULD HAVE TWO DESIGNS OF DIFFERENT REGIONS ONE FRONT AND ONE BACK. THE PROBLEM WITH TOO MANY IDEAS LIKE THIS IS IT BECOMES COMPLICATED AND OFTEN BECOMES LIKE A BEAURACY AND NOTHING GETS DONE BUT TALK. |

This 'ZAZZLE' thing works fine.
For $18,45 i was able to 'create' a t-shirt with my favourite (gone) cat. You don't have to be an informatic specialist to apply a picture and (optionally) a text in a t-shirt with a model, size and colour of your choice, in their (common sense built) software. Definitely, after this test, i will 'create' another t-shirt, this time with the takouba logo and the forum lettering. Fernando PS Lee, you have a PM. Thanks |

Nearly Last Call for EAAF Moro Kris t-shirt
I apologize for the delays with the t-shirt subscription sale. The proposed final artwork is at http://www.vikingsword.com/ethsword/tshirt3.jpg (or here for the png version if you want to use zazzle or a similar service).
If you prefer the previous styles, be advised that I will post the artwork for those designs, with updated text in the near future. Before I bother the printer, I wish to make sure we still have enough interest to meet the minimum for a screen printing as described above. If you replied previously (or if you want to join in at this time) and want to buy one or more screen printed shirts with the Moro kris design, please advise me of the number you currently anticipate wanting. |

Update - details soon forthcoming
I have finally gotten the artwork and the various requests for variants off to the printer and am awaiting his reply. Once I have his reply, we will know the actual price and I will have answers to some of the special request questions.
Obviously, members can no longer reply to this thread as we continue to test the setting blocking second party replies in swap. This has very effectively stopped discussions of the items for sale to include the targeted insinuating questions, but it has unfortunately also disabled the potentially useful "you have a PM" or "your PM box is full" reply as well as replies in threads such as this, that belong in swap as something is for sale but for which discussion presents no problem. |

Ready for Orders
The pricing is a little lower than previously announced; not a lot but a little. Also, most of the requested variations are available, but at a cost, as per below.
One important change from the information above is that, for shirts with a front pocket, the smaller rendering in front will be opposite the pocket, rather than on the pocket, as placing it on the pocket would have made it too small. Please refer to this page for ordering information. The PayPal address to place an order manually is ljones@vikingsword.com and this is also the e-mail for inquiries. |
