You are right. Panji -- in Javanese was an old title for a noble person, a prince. I could mention for instance, Panji Asmoro Bangun -- was a name of a royal prince in an old Javanese legend. Or, Raden Panji Inu Kertapati.

But, Panji in Indonesian language means "flag", but this is not Javanese. And I think, in this dhapur name (Panji Kuda), the word "kuda" also must be spelled as "kudo" (javanese), not "kuda" (Indonesian).

Thank you for the correction, Michael. But this dhapur name is still a question, why "panji kuda"...
