Default Loncengan

Hi Bill,
Your new keris and sheath, is either Bali or Lombok. But the handle or hilt (Danda or Danganan, according to Mr Lalu Djelenga's Lombok keris book) is from the type of "loncengan". That is the simplified of the "cenangan" type...

In Jakarta (Indonesia), you still possible to repair the missing veneer, by replacing the stripped layer of the "pelet" (of the timoho wood -- Kleinhovia hospita L) with a similar (not exactly the same, but old) layer. There are some good "mranggi" (keris sheath maker) in Jakarta and of course in Yogyakarta, Surakarta, who can repair such missing thing... But unfortunately, you are out there....
