need info on this sword
hi this sword / dagger was found in the 1800s near fruta colorado . it has a brass -bronze one piece handle with either fish scales or small bird feathers . the handle is 6 inches long and the blade is 11 inches long by 1 5/8 wide. it has 2 fuller grooves for 3 1/2 inches then it turns into 1 fuller groove .it is heavy for its size . http://www.midamerica.net/~jmorff/pics/sword1.jpg http://www.midamerica.net/~jmorff/pics/sword2.jpg http://www.midamerica.net/~jmorff/pics/sword3.jpg http://www.midamerica.net/~jmorff/pics/sword4.jpg thanks for the help

I believe the style is that of an Ames artillery sword; same design used
by Confederates and also made by French if I recall correctly. Rich |

I think all of those were modeled after napoleonic "gladius" artillery sword... were produced by many countries until late 1870s. "Confederate" sometime means imported from Europe.
