Question about halberd
Hello,
Here is a halberd from my collection, I would like to know what can be used for the two rods on the sides? |

Mmmm .. bizarre; i have never seen such thing.
Say Thomas, are both ends of those studs "screwable" ... or riveted ? Are the blade and beak edges sharp ... or very sharp ? Any marks in the blade? Can we see a picture of the entire halberd head, including the whole spike and entire langets ? |

The wood is not original and the iron was reassembled in ancient times by rivets. The splints are of different lengths on each side. This halberd was found a long time ago in an underground stone quarry in the Dordogne in France. The crescent is sharp, the rest less, but enough to hurt someone.

I have a number of halberds with side spikes in my collection
this can be seen as an extension of the halberd weapon possibilities. The blunt form is much less common. probably later evaluated only for the style without further function best, jasper |

Outstanding example, Jasper.
Interesting note on the different purpose of the side implements. The closest i have been to these was in a halberd once shown by Matchlock, one in which their shape suggests the embellishment version. ( Musée de l'Armée Paris, inv.no. K. Po. 432.) . |

They look like they have a rod/rivet down the centre, likely peened both sides. could they be for stacking multiple halberds in the field? Do they turn?
