Default Nice Old Congo Axe For Comment

Hi Guys

This just arrived today. A lovely old Chokwe axe 15" in length with a 6" long head. It has a rich deep patina on to it and a nice design engraved on the steel head. This was a gamble due to the poor quality picture on the auction but I guess the gamble paid off for me.

Very pretty, any chance of a better picture of the engraving. Tim

The workmanship is better than usual. These African weapons look almost like abstract sculptures. I am not sure they were terribly effective but sure pretty. Not for nothing they are often exhibited in the museums of modern art. Lovely piece!
